Using cellular automata based sequencing operators and asynchronous loopers, musical patterns emerge.
I have distilled these moments of (machine) composition from a number of single take recordings made in the first half of 2019. They are the result of a steep learning process and, although acutely aware of their failings, I felt that there was enough honesty in them to share, especially with their imperfections.
All sounds and sequencing are from a minimal modular synthesizer system. Minimal audio effects were added during the mixing process.
Thanks to the Lines community for the inspiration, tools and support.
Special thanks to my friend and collaborator, Lindsay Crawford for the feedback and honest appraisal along the way.
Extra special thanks to my wife and best friend, Laura, for always supporting me, and to our son Julian for the title, "What is that song that you sing for the sun?"
